Blessing Waikiki School

Although we are unable to meet at Waikiki School right now, we still want to reach out to the school and show them how much God loves them.  As we have been conversing with the principal and staff, they have reaffirmed the need for mentors to come and help those students who need the most help.

We will be starting Malama Mentors, a mentoring program that works one on one with a student in need.  A mentor would come in once a week or once every other week, during lunch or after school for about a half hour and help that student feel supported.  You can play checkers, chess, connect four as you meet together.  You will be a great support and blessing to someone who needs it and having been a mentor before, I am excited to do it again.  Would you please pray about being a mentor?  This opportunity is available for anyone high school aged and above.

Did you know that all the students eat outdoors?  The school has purchased benches, which we were able to help put together a few months ago.  Now the school is asking if we can help paint the benches!  We are looking for a team of people to come and help paint the benches!

Interested in being a mentor or painting benches?  Contact Pastor Max at info@saltandlighthawaii.org

In-Person Worship Gatherings on Saturday in September!

Starting in September, we will be gathering weekly at a new location and on a new day of the week!  We will be meeting at Holy Nativity Church on Saturday, September 5th at 6:00pm.  Holy Nativity Church is in Aina Haina.  Some of you might be asking why we are meeting there on a different day of the week?  Well, the Hyatt will be using this space for weddings, and we had to find a new location.  We sincerely hope you will make the change with us, and meet with us for church on Saturday evenings!

Drive-Thru Snack and Recipe Exchange

Looking for a way to share some of God’s hope this New Year?  Well, our church is doing a Drive-Thru Snack and Recipe Exchange!

Next Sunday, January 10th, bring a packaged, store bought local snack (value of no more than $10), a recipe, and a written message of hope with a Bible verse to Waikiki School at 12pm.

There will be a team of people there who you can drop off the snack and you’ll get another snack from another family at Salt + Light back!  You won’t even need to get out of your car!

We are also collecting food for families to donate to the Hawaii Foodbank, so if you’d like to, please bring with you some non-perishable food items as well.

So, please come out and join the fun, as we spread the hope of Jesus with one another, and with our community!

You can sign-up on our website or on our weekly newsletter by January 4th.
